Manufacturing stages of Holograms

The holographic design is embossed on metalised PET in width of upto 160 mm for the manufacture of security labels and strips.

Master Types

Holograms are embossed using the masters made by laser beams. Different methods are used for making the master depending on the security features to be incorporated in the design. The colors in the holograms changes with the angle of viewing by the user.

2D / 3D Masters

Can have 2 or 3 layers in the hologram having virtual depth between the layers. These masters have their limitations for incorporation of high security features which is the need of the times.

Dot Matrix Masters

Dotmatrix masters have the ability to provide brighter holograms with additional security features such as gradient effects, animated images, kinetic images, nano text, true images etc.

Kinegram masters

It is a type of security hologram master that creates animated optical effects by using precisely microstructures. It has motion, flip flop, zoom and color changing effects when tilted. It uses complex features that are extremely difficult to counterfeit.

Litho-Fire masters

A Litho-Fire is a high security hologram master created by using lithography system. Instead of using optical recording, focused beam of electrons writes extremely fine nano structures onto a photo resist coated surface. This technology has ultra advance security features which are not easy to copy.

Security Features

Our holograms include advanced overt and covert security features to protect your product and brand. These unique elements help users easily identify genuine products while making duplication and counterfeiting extremely difficult. The combination of visible and hidden security layers provides enhanced protection, reliability, and verification at every stage of the supply chain.

Overt features are directly visible to the end users for easy identification of genuine products. The overt features are complex, attractive and are difficult to replicate. Some of the overt features are Guilloche patterns, Embossed, Gradient and Kinetic effects, etc.

Security features which are not visible to the naked eye and requiring some kind of devices are the covert features. Nano text, laser readable image, hidden effects etc. are some of the covert features. As the features are known only to the manufacturer, it assists the personnel to on field checks for authenticity of the product.

Serial Numbering

The security of holograms can be increased by providing variable data on individual hologram. The variable data can be in the form of alpha numeric serial numbers, bar codes. The variable data on the holograms can be easily read using hand held devices or mobiles. Variable data have assisted many manufacturers who use distribution channels for identification, track & trace and reduction of counterfeit products. The variable data can be provided through laser marking, thermal printing, etc. Chemical etching is used for providing static data such as batch no. / date for a lot of holograms.

Laser Marking

A low power laser is used for marking the variable data on the hologram. The laser beam marks by removal of the metal below the film surface and provide a permanent marking which cannot be erased through any means.

Thermal Printing

Easily scannable variable data provided through Thermal printed holograms are used by manufacturers for inventory control, track & trace of the products through the distribution channel and preventing duplication. The printing is very cost effective.

Chemical Etching

Static data such as batch no. or production data can be provided on holograms. The data forms an integral part of the hologram and cannot be erased by any means.

Tamper Evident Properties

Holograms are supplied with tamper evident properties which provide clear evidence when anybody attempts to remove the label. When hologram is tried to be peeled off, the design is destroyed and the label cannot be again affixed on the product or packaging. Tamper evident properties are an added level of security. They are being used by many industries where sealed packages have to reach the consumer as a proof of authenticity.

The tamper evidence properties are supplied as:-

Full tamper evident: The label would be completely be destroyed when peeled off. The film comes off leaving the metalized design on the package and cannot be reapplied.
Selective tamper evident: The label would leave a “pattern” (honeycomb) on the package when peeled off.
Void tamper evident: The label would leave “VOID” words on the package when peeled off.
